About Us

Our Story: A Taste of Home and Happiness

The Lulo Project is more than a fashion brand; it’s a celebration of identity, resilience, and community, proudly rooted in the African diaspora. Inspired by our Afro-Colombian founder, Martha Nieto, and her experiences living in the USA, Italy, and traveling extensively across Europe and Asia, we bring a global perspective to every collection. Our bold, colorful designs feature striking prints inspired by nature, animals, and especially birds—a symbol of freedom and one of our core values.

We are a laidback elegance brand, offering versatile, comfy-chic pieces that transition effortlessly from day to night. Our clothing empowers women to stand out confidently and to embrace their beauty and individuality during life’s transitions, from changing careers to evolving family roles. Our price range of $250-$500 balances accessibility with exceptional quality, offering timeless pieces that bring joy without compromise.

Sustainability is central to our ethos. We use 95% natural or recycled fabrics and keep production batches small to reduce waste. Each piece reflects our commitment to both timeless design and environmental care.

As an Afro-diaspora brand, we proudly center Black women in our storytelling and designs—not to exclude others, but to normalize their representation and amplify their visibility. We aim to create a space where every woman feels seen, celebrated, and valued while welcoming everyone who shares our love for joy, beauty, and authenticity.

More than just clothing, The Lulo Project fosters a vibrant community united by shared values of social justice, diversity, equality, and sustainability. Through our collections and storytelling, we aim to inspire meaningful connections and a sense of belonging. From motivational message, lifestyle tips, behind-the-scenes inspiration, and self-care practices, reflecting our ethos of meaningful, thoughtful living we bring joy and authenticity to every aspect of the Lulo experience.

The name "Lulo" comes from a fruit that has always brought happiness to our founder, and we pass that feeling on to our customers. We are a project because we’re always evolving—building a platform that goes beyond selling clothes to creating a space where every "Lulo Lover" feels seen, valued, inspired comfy and chic.
